In May 2005 our clients were hoping to enjoy a evening out without their two young children. On their way to a Miami Heat game tragedy struck their lives in the form of a 90 pound steel disc that fell from the back of a trailer that was overloaded and not tarped according to Florida law. Both husband and wife suffered serious and permanent injuries. We were contacted by the clients and agreed to represent them under a contingency fee agreement in which the clients would have paid no fee or costs if we had been unable to identify the tractor trailer and make a recovery. Fortunately, witnesses had called 911 and reported the tag number for the trailer so we were able to file claims against both the hauler of the scrap metal and the company that over loaded the trailer. After approximately a year of litigation we were able to achieve a multi million dollar settlement for the clients. 90 pound steel disc escapes from tractor trailer crashes into client's windshield.
